Most individuals living in the United States read, write, speak, and understand English well enough to understand their rights and responsibilities related to their housing. However, there are many individuals for whom English is not their primary language. If these individuals have a limited ability to read, write, speak, or understand English, they are limited English proficient, or “LEP”.
Language for LEP persons can be a barrier to accessing important benefits or services, understanding and exercising important rights, complying with applicable responsibilities, or understanding other information provided by publicly-funded programs and activities. DMPM is committed to improving the accessibility of these programs and activities to eligible LEP persons. Any individual or family with limited English proficiency has a right to receive language services provided by DMPM at no charge. Language services can include in person consultation with a bilingual DMPM staff member, phone or video interpretation with a third-party contractor, or documents translated by a third-party certified translation contractor. DMPM applicants and tenants have the right to provide their own interpreters, at their own cost. However, DMPM urges applicants and tenants to make sure their chosen interpreter is capable of effectively translating their legal housing rights and requirements.
To request language services, please contact the Property Management Director, Rylee Gearin. If you have feedback or ideas for future expansion of this page, please submit them using our Customer Survey.
